Book Worm

My parents didn't read much to me when I was little- at least not that I know of or remember at all. Hence the fact that I don't like to read much now. After babysitting for Emerson (whose mom is a collector of children's books and blogger of them as well) and watching Emmy turn into a little brilliant book worm at a young age,  I knew that some day I would share with my child all the stories and books I've read with Emmy. I started buying books for Samantha before I was even pregnant. Some are ones that I liked while flipping through in the book store, some are Matt's when he was little; some were received as gifts and some are the same books that Emmy had when she was little. Daddy and I started reading to Samantha while I was pregnant and continued to do so after she was born. In her 18 months, she's gone through phases of flipping through certain books (refer to blogs about Jamberry) and sometimes went through phases of not touching a book for days. However, we don't let Sammie sit in front of the tv and watch shows like a lot of other kids do, so now Sammie gets lost in books. Everyday she'll bring books to us to read, even in the bathtub. Currently, Sams' favorite book is Hurry Hurry (Emerson sent as a gift) and she requests it by name. Sammie's favorite part is when the baby chick is breaking out of it's egg, "Shhhhhh. Tap tap tappity tap". She likes to tap along on the book, too. There's a book in her crib to keep her occupied when Mama or Dada aren't ready to get her, too.

Sammie reads when she relaxing...
 She reads at Grandma's...
 ... she reads with Nate
 She reads in the car
She reads during a morning diaper change
She carries her books all over!

She even reads in the tub!
