Kissable Foodie

Sammie had a very eventful and tasty day! This morning started off with her first time eating pancakes- plain- which she fed herself and enjoyed. For lunch, along with her fruits and veggies I gave her bits and pieces of my lunch. Although I had a hot dog with chili, she didn't get any of the dog, but she cried wanting more of the bread and chili. She love- love- loved chili! Along with her dinner, we gave her a new side of veggies- creamed corn. She ate the first couple of spoonfuls, but then she would take a bite then grab it off her tongue and play with it. Ick. She does this when she doesn't like a food. Maybe she'll like the homemade stuff (like Daddy).
Pancakes!

More chili, please, Mommy.
This morning, she started blowing kisses! It's too cute. It was even cuter when we walked into the room where Daddy was and instead of waving, she blew kisses to him!
Kisses, Daddy!

I have also perfected how to get onto the couch.
We also went to story time at the library.... and we made it on time. (Note to self: go early next time). Sammie sat on my lap for the short board book story and by the time we sang songs, she was ready to bust free. She couldn't wait for play time. Once she was able to get around, she pretty much stayed to herself or me and wasn't really interested in the other kids. That's ok, some times we just have those anti-social days.

Up... Down

Daddy had been teaching Sammie how to get in and out of her car seat by herself. Now, she thinks it's a game and has lots of fun playing in it. This morning, we were killing time before we had to leave for Grandma's, and Sammie decided to spend the time getting in her car seat, rocking, then standing up and playing her new game "Up... Down". Luckily, she had it pushed against the wall so the seat wouldn't rock and she wouldn't fall out. Smart girl. When she stood up, it even sounded like she was saying "Up". Our baby sure is becoming a little girl!

I love playing in my car seat!

Peeka. I see you.
Which book do you want to read to me, Daddy?

Squirmy Book Wormy

We have been reading to Sammie since I was pregnant hoping that she would have a love for books among other benefits. We continued to read to her after she was born and when she got to the point where she wouldn't keep still, we took a little break... until now. I still read to her at bedtime while she is drinking her bottle, that way she is preoccupied and won't chew on the book.  However, as excited and squirmy-wormy as she is nowadays, she is finally finding an interest in books. She loves reading That's Not My Dragon and enjoys feeling the different textures, and Bear Snores On and Bear Wants More (by Karma Wilson). This morning, in honor of eating blueberry yogurt for breakfast, we pulled out Jamberry by Bruce Degen. She kept reaching for it, wanting more.

Thanks Amy & Emerson for inspiring us!

Weaning the Paci

Since Sammie's top teeth are coming in, I thought it would be a good time to try to take the paci away. Although she only uses it while sleeping, it usually falls out once she's zonked anyway. I was able to get her to nap without it, however, after her nighttime bottle, when we usually give it to her, I tried to avoid it but she kept wanting to suck. I tried not giving in, but her eyes were open like she couldn't fall asleep without it... and I was determined to not have a fussy night... so, yes, I gave in! Maybe Daddy will have better luck this week. It was only the first night.

Sammie spent the evening with Daddy while Mommy went out for dinner. They played, Sammie kept her plastics cabinet well stocked and she even helped Daddy make delicious Wells' Family Oven-Fried Chicken and chocolate chip cookies! Mommy was happy when she got home.

As for Sammie's "cold": She is still very snotty and sometimes has a hard time breathing. She is doing a good job at letting us wipe her nose with a tissue and letting Daddy suction out the yuckies. She doesn't like it at all, but when she gets reeeal stuffy, she'll hold still. I guess she knows it'll help her breathe a little easier.

I am going to be working late (til 8pm) some days this week, so forgive me if I miss a blog or if they don't make sense. I'm sure I will be tired! Maybe I'll try to catch up in the mornings.

Sleepless in Sleepyland

Samantha has been very weird about sleeping. She was up in the middle of the night last night, just wide awake. Today she would be tired for a nap, but having a hard time going to sleep. Daddy finally got her to take her evening nap at 6:00, which was over an hour long! For bedtime, she had a hard time going to sleep, again, at 9:00. She just tossed and turned. I just tried walking with her and she would keep jerking awake. Maybe it's a growth spurt and her bones are aching...? It's 10:15 and she finally fell asleep.

Besides sleeping, it was a lazy day for us. Daddy rode and did some homework, Mommy cleaned and napped when Baby napped. Sammie sat around and read her new favorite book, which she likes more than "That's Not My Kitten". Her favorite page is "It's tail is too prickly".

PooPie Friday

We had a really great day! It started with a great Mommy + Baby yoga session and a nice nap. Sammie woke up and I did some video-ing of her in the crib for a couple minutes. I stopped, then started again for a few minutes. I didn't know what I was waiting for, but I guess I had mother's intuition that something "good" was going to happen. Unfortunately, I didn't get the "good part" on video. Daddy and I went in to get this sweet little angel and he pointed out that she wasn't wearing her diaper. Instead, she was holding it out at us laughing. Then he noticed..... a poop in the crib! Oh My Goodness! This is what my intuition wanted me to record, and I missed it! How funny would that have been? I guess if I saw it, it wouldn't of happened because I would have stopped it and we wouldn't be laughing about it now and for days to come.
Look at this sweet angelic INNOCENT face.

Notice the diaper on the floor and a POOP in the bed!? She's proud.

Hey Mommy, that's my diapy.

I love hangin' with Daddy.

Step by Step

Happy Birthday Grandma Maria & Happy 1st Birthday, Cousin Naters!

Grandpa told me that Sammie had taken 4 steps the other day and I doubted him. Although, if he is telling the truth she's starting trouble at his house first hee hee... Anyhoo, Daddy and I saw her take 3 steps this morning, then this afternoon he and Grandpa watched her take 8 steps! 8! Of course, no camera. I will deny it until I see it for myself. When I got home from work, she took a few steps toward me, but some were double and I couldn't count cause I was hoping she wouldn't trip over my bags. We are getting closer to a monster on the loose! As Daddy says, "It's a blessing and a curse."

Grandma got Cousin Nate a new tent for his birthday for him and Sammie to play in at her house. They really enjoyed it... and so did Daddy!
I made you a card, Naters.

I love you, Daddy!

Sammie Takes The WIN

What a crazy busy day!

We started off with a "Daddy can I help you in the kitchen?"...

... then rearranged the rug in the living room...

... had a snotty booger explosion...

... got into a fight and got a little bloody...

... fixed it with a frozen butterfly teether and a drink of ice cold water...

Then we were good to go with our shades into the bright day ...

... and topped it off with yummy corn fritters at dinner...

You're probably still stuck on the bloody part, huh? Ok...

I put Sammie down for a quick nap so we could hurry to run errands. She was taking for-ever to sleep, so I thought I would go in and calm her by rocking and singing, yadda yadda, that didn't work and I think may have made it worse cause she kept crying after I put her back down and walked out. It was her come-get-me-out-of-here-please cry. Daddy said that she was going to have big crocodile tears when we go in. I knew she would and let her fuss a couple more minutes before going back in to get her. When I walked in, she was standing with the crocodile tears in full effect and a smile on her face, along with something else. I thought it was blood, but could it perhaps be some thing that she stored in her cheeks from the floor before nap? I got a closer look and it was blood! I would have totally freaked out, except she wasn't freaked and she had a smile on her face. I assumed she bit her lip and I waited for Daddy to check it out. Sammie must have hit her top gums on the crib, because it was bleeding from behind the top right tooth. She sucked on a frozen teether for a few minutes along with her sippee cup of water and was good to go. Sammie doesn't take crap from anything!

School Daze

Daddy had his first day of classes, so he brought Samantha to Grandma's and that gave me a little extra time to clean up around the house a little without having to carry Sammie around- Yes- she is spoiled and I carry her everywhere with me. During his lunch break, he was able to go back to Grandma's to hang and put Sammie down for her nap and also have some lunch. After class he picked Sammie up from Gmaw's and they both went to buy Daddy's text books. He said everyone was Oooohing and Ahhhhing over her. I'm sure the waves to everyone caught all their attention! Needless to say, Daddy is pooped! It doesn't help that he caught Sammie's little cold and is now snotty and sneezy. Achoooo
On the other hand, Sammie is feeling much-much better and is back to being herself and she had a great day playing with Grandma and Cousin Naters.

Morning, Daddy!
Peeka! I see you, Naters!

I forget to mention new things Sammie is doing:
Cruising the furniture with one hand like a breeze
She is standing on her own and may take a step or two before plopping down on her bottom.

She points to things. Some times it sounds like she is saying "That." (I think it's from me always pointing to some one and saying "Sammie, who is that?")- Maybe she doesn't even understand that concept yet.
High five
A pro drinking from her sippee cup
Feeding herself more solids like bread or snacks.
She's trying to roll.smack the ball to you.
Back to clicking her tongue again
She does this weird tongue licking thing like she's licking an ice cream cone or licking like doggies.
Being more gentle with Ali Kat
She stands on her left foot and shakes her right leg. This is hilarious! I think of it as doing a jigg. Grandpa says she has something stuck on her foot.
She likes to "dance" and stand in the tub, but when Daddy/Mommy says "On your bottom", she understands.
Lots of signing for "milk", which she also does for "food", of course milk = food :)
Some times can clap along to "If you're happy and you know it clap your hands!..."
Dances/Bounces when she hears music

The Ants Go Marching One by One

... not hoorah, hoorah!

Sammie was up from 2-3:30am last night, or should I say this morning. Daddy had taken over for me, but while pacing he heard a strange noise. Long story short: Ants took over the kitchen! Like a gazillion of them! So there he was at 3:00am spraying ant killer inside and outside of the house. Then bright and early this morning he was up vacuuming up dead ants and mopping floors. Talk about creepy crawly nightmares! ehhhhhhhhh

During the fiasco, I had given Sammie some Tylenol to help with her cold. She did not want to be put down, the medicine finally kicked in and she slept like... well, a baby. I was worried about how she would act today and I warned Grandma that she might be snotty and fussy, but of course, she fooled me. She woke up in a great mood and with a clean nose and was a happy girl all day! Praying for a good night and that this cold's butt has been kicked!

Nate gets a kick out of rocking Sammie, and she gets to be pampered. "Where are my grapes, please?"

A Case of the Yuckies

This is no allergy. Samantha has a cold. You may wonder "A cold in the middle of summer?" Yes, all it is, is a little virus, but our poor baby is sick... and snotty... and fussy... and tired. We can't wait til she's all better. She still tries to be playful, then in a minute she's upset. I mean, look at this face:

So last night wasn't the best night. Sammie woke up at about 2am and again at 5:30-6:00. As I was getting back in bed, Daddy's alarm was going off for him to get up to ride with Grandpa. All I could think was "Thank God, it's not a work day!"

Celebrating Cousin Nate's First Year

Since Cousin Nate is going to be out of town for his 1st birthday, we celebrated today. It was an 80's video game theme. Samantha had fun playing with him and his friends, and socializing with everyone although she hasn't been feeling well. She has a runny nose and is constantly sneezing. We think she has some kind of seasonal allergy (mold seems to be high right now). Daddy and I (and Sammie, too) hope it goes away soon because having a snotty kid is gross, besides she can't breathe very well either. She is also having a hard time going to sleep. This afternoon, it took us 2 or so hours to get her to sleep, then after 30 minutes we had to wake her to go to the party.
Hi Cousin >.<

Cake!

To Nate. Love, Sammie

Tonight when putting Sammie down for bed, she kept throwing out her paci and she would bite down on her finger(s) on one or both sides of her bottom teeth. I am wondering if on top of this allergy, she is teething at the bottom. When her gums/teeth bother her, she mumbles "mamama" and she was doing that tonight along with her nigh time sleepy babble. Her top teeth already broke through, so the worst part of that is over. I guess now we have to prepare for those new bottoms. Let's hope for good nights to come.

Baby Shower & Crab Boil

Mommy and I went to a baby shower at the hospital for one of her co-workers, Amber. I had fun playing with everybody and seeing all the pink decorations! Mommy let me try some raspberries and blackberries and they were sooooooo delicious! I love eating raspberries as much as I love blowing raspberries! hee hee hee
Mrs. Kathy- Mommy's boss- holding me. I rarely get to see her when I visit.
This evening, Mommy and I went with Grandma to IKEA for a crawfish boil. It seemed pretty cool, but I heard them complaining about how it needed more spice and next time Grandma was going to bring them a box of crab boil!
Grandma, like my hat? Let's party!

Me and Grandma Wells waving :)

It sure was a busy day and Mommy is so proud that I was able to get all my naps and meals in!

PS~ Daddy told me that Whitey went to Heaven today. Hmmm.... I had wondered where's he's been hiding. I'll miss him licking me.

xoxo, Sammie

Happy Birthday, Grandpa!

I had a lot of fun playing with Cousin Nate and Grandma Wells today. I love sitting on top and looking below.

This evening Mommy & Daddy came to eat dinner at Grandma and Grandpa's to celebrate Grandpa's birthday! It was a ton of fun... because I got to help Grandpa blow out his candles! Grandpa can be so silly!

Happy Birthday, Grandpa! xoxo

Lil' Show Off

I have been forgetting to mention that Samantha has been standing on her feet for about a week and a half now. Some times when we put her down, she'll lock her legs and stand; some times it's when she's pulled up on the wall or a toy and she just let's go. When I try to get her to show off at Grandma and Grandpa's she rarely does it, just like at home: falls right on her bottom. It's like she knows that we already know she can do it, so Why keep doing it? However, when we go out some where, like to my work, yoga, or the library, she just stands on her 2 without me asking or forcing and will have a big smile on her face the whole time.
*just won't stand up!*
This morning we went to the Cedar Park Library for Story Time. I have been wanting to take her on Wednesdays, but The Symphony Children's Day took precedence. It was hard trying to get this planned out with it being around Sammie's nap, but I woke her up after 30 minutes and figured if we were 10 minutes late, it would be ok. We were late and I was not ok with it. I thought we would just sneak in the back during the beginning of the story, etc... Instead, they have a schedule of singing songs, play time, then more singing... ? I'm not sure exactly where/when the story was taking place, because we showed up during play time. But it was all good because all the other mommies were so sweet and accepting of our tardiness and Sammie just went along and played with all the other kids there. She played with ALL boys- Go Figure. Once again, she showed off!
Tired Mommy. Cutie Sammie! <3
Upside down, trying to see that Snaggle Tooth! (sorry for the booger show)
