What More Can We Say?

Samantha isn't going to see Cousin Naters for a couple of weeks because he'll be on vacation. They must have known because they played hard and napped short, if at all.

Grandma took this video this morning. She says next time she watches Sammie, she expects there to be a cage for our lil' monkey....

Lying On The Floor

I couldn't stop taking pictures of Samantha! I was just trying to get the "perfect" shot... even though she is perfect... but those faces she makes crack me up!  She has also been doing this new thing- just lying down on the floor like she's going to sleep. I thought it's maybe because she likes the coolness of the tile floor on her face, but she does it on the rug too. Daddy thinks she likes the way things look from that angel. Either way, it's funny!
We went to the pool today with Lori and Nate and got a "guest pass"... summer time here we come! We love their beach entrance in the big pool and love that the water is warm. Sammie started inching in a little further in and didn't mind her face getting wet or water getting in her mouth. I tried to hold her on her tummy and she kicked her legs like a froggy. Daddy has got to take this little girl swimming for real!
Tonight in the tub, she kept wanting to stand up and blow raspberries on my arm. It was funny, because on top of that she kept doing her slobbery mouth raspberry while she laughed :)

A Slobbery Kiss Kinda Day

Sammie was going nuts this morning sticking her whole tongue out down her chin... she just couldn't stop while I was getting her buckled in. Oh the drooly chin! It was too funny! When I picked her up this evening, she enjoyed getting many slobbery kisses from Whitey. She loves doggies.... except when they're barking!

Lunch With Tom

We had the pleasure of getting to see Tom while he is in town and meeting his new friend. Sammie was a little taken back by eating in a restaurant and all the excitement going on around. We sat her in the high chair and she wanted to stand up and crawl up on the table, but we kept her on lock down. I fed her some snacks and when lunch came she had some potatoes and fruit. Even though she was tired and it was nap time, we stopped a big toy store called 'Toy Joy'.

We had an odd day of wedding events. The ceremony and reception had a 3 hour gap, so we brought Sammie to the quick ceremony service, which was only about 30 minutes long. She did great in the big Catholic church.  For the reception, Grandma had the pleasure of taking care of her while Mommy and Daddy partied the night away... it was much needed! Sammie took her steps with her play table and like the rest of us, Grandma was too slow to grab that camera to video it!

Sammie helped me clean up today, and as I was folding laundry in the bedroom she was chewing on my work badge and crawling around. She then pulled up on a laundry basket and used it to walk across the room. I tried to get video, but when she did it again, she only took one step and fell on her bottom. She continued to do it tonight in the kitchen using her play table, but we couldn't get video fast enough. She's actually done this before just taking about 2 steps, but now she is taking a lot more. I think it's time we get her a push toy.

It is so hot outside that Daddy sprayed me and Mommy with the hose to cool us down. Mommy let me get down on the deck and Daddy hosed me off more. It was kinda fun! xoxo, Sammie

Tippee Toe Monkey/ Ali!

Boy do we have a monkey on our hands! Last night during Sammie's wild-child moment we watched her in the monitor move her foam book (which I put in her crib for her to CHEW on) into the corner of the crib, and all we could see was a little tippee toe on top of the book stretching. That little monkey was trying to climb out of the crib! Daddy ran in to take out the book and the mirror that's attached, which she probably used as leverage. Geez... time's coming to move the mattress down another notch.

Sammie has also learned how to call for Ali... and we thought it was cute when she just knew what cat we were talking about- Say "Ali" and she looks around on the ground; Say "outside kitty" and she looks towards the back door for Nikko. Tonight when Daddy was calling for Ali, Sammie started calling "Allae".......

Children's Day with Grandpa

YAY! We finally went to see Grandpa work the Children's Day concert this morning. Sammie got her nap on the way down there and when she woke up she was a little surprised at everything that was going on, bubbles, balloons, clowns, musicians and lots of other mommies and babies. It took her some time to warm up and then she was excited and clapped her hands to the music. We watched Joe McDermott perform kiddie songs and met lots of Grandpa's co-workers who had heard lots about Samantha. Afterward, there was face painting and clay play, but since Sammie is too young for that we said goodbye. Nap on the way home.

Yea! Riding a Roller Coaster!

We think Sammie is getting her top teeth... soon. There's nothing to see, but she's been fussy ALL day once we got home and didn't want to get put down. I had to hold her while doing dishes, laundry, even going potty (yes, she is spoiled), but my poor angel had big crocodile tears and was hurting! She would just chew on her fingers and now drools down her chin.
She's refusing going to sleep right now. She fought me trying to giver her a bottle and Daddy was able to get her to finish it off. She is acting like a wild monster! I should go give her some Tylenol.

Big Tub Time

In response to yesterday's blog.... Sammie slept 'til 7am on the dot with the alarm. She didn't wake up earlier than usual, then she did a repeat of yesterday again. Her eyes are so tired and have black circles in the evening. We are thinking maybe it's a growth spurt that is making her tired-?

I didn't feel like messing with the baby tub tonight and know at some point soon, Sammie will be in the big tub. So, I tried it tonight. It was nice cause she could splash and crawl (which she was hesitant to do), but it was so difficult to rinse out the soap from her hair. I leaned her back to lie down in the water and she DID NOT like that and cried! So, back to the baby tub we will scrub.

I've been forgetting to mention: Sammie has been using the pincher grab over the last couple of weeks. She is now able to pick up little things with her index finger and thumb. I was feeding her some small yogurt melts and she wasn't able to pick it up to put  in her mouth. Then Daddy started tossing them on the floor while she's crawling around, now she'll just pinch it up and pop it in her mouth!

Sleeping Beauty

I had to wake Samantha up this morning. She looked so peaceful, I felt so bad. Here is our beauty...

We think Grandma is working her hard, maybe doing some gardening or some cleaning? She took 2 one hour naps at Grandma's, then took another nap at home from 6-7pm, ate dinner, had a bath and conked back out a little after 8. I'm bracing myself for an early morning.
Overall, Sammie had a great day playing with Grandma and Cousin Naters. Grandma said that she even climbed on top of the little red rocking chair... I'm sure she was trying to get on top of the hutch, that lil' climber! ha ha ha.

This is "our" outside cat, Nikko, who started coming around a few months before Sammie came into our life. We started feeding her and she's been "ours" pretty much since (except in the presence of Mama Voodoo those couple of months). She is the sweetest cat who loves to get pets whenever she can. She would almost rather get pets than get food. Since Ali Kat always runs from Sammie, and Sammie can't get a hand on her, Nikko is a great pet-cat for Sammie to touch... and she thinks it's so funny...

Ducks, Fire, and a Food Fight

We've been collecting old bread, bread ends, etc. to feed the ducks at the duck pond. We emptied our bags out for the ducks and they came right up to us wanting to eat, that was a little scary for me but Sammie wasn't phased by much of it. She just watched them.... Serious Sam. On our way home, Daddy got a phone call from a neighbor that wasn't at home asking if we knew about a fire in our neighborhood, well we weren't home either so we hurried there with thoughts of our home being on fire. What would we be left with? What would we do? For the most part, it's just stuff, but I was worried about Sammie's pictures and Ali Kat.  Daddy said he doesn't want to lose everything again, like Katrina..I didn't either.  Well, we got back and saw that our house was ok,  so we drove around to see and sure enough, it was around the corner and was contained and taken care of. The horrible thing about this story... we are in a drought, every thing is dry, and fires spread fast! Anyhoo... we are all ok!  Thank god that we were worried for nothing but we felt terrible for the people who lost their house. Been there, our prayers are with ya!

Sammie seemed to really enjoy her dinner. She karate chopped a spoonful of beef and veggies all over my back, front, and shorts. Geez. She even decided to fix her own hair, tonight. She kept pulling at this one spot and it just stuck out like she used hair gel.... funny!

Cruisin' N' Cars

Happy Friday! We were hoping Daddy would get off work early today, but it didn't happen... thanks Canadian postal workers. Sammie and I had lunch with a couple of friends and she had her first bit of Strawberry- Banana juice smoothie. I think she was a little thrown off by the coldness of it, but then wanted more, which could have been because of the over-100 degree heat that's engulfing us.

We found a remote toy car in the 'junk' drawer that Sammie has been playing with. It's fun seeing her play with cars and chasing after them...

Also, while hanging outside (in the 100+ degree heat), Daddy let Sammie down on the deck and she started crawling all around! Her poor little fingers would get stuck in between the boards and she'd "stumble". We caught her cruising and climbing up the steps, but of course when Daddy got out the camera she wouldn't do it.... Well, he got part of it....

A Sweet Lil' Jalepeno Pepper

My alarm is set to go off for 7:00am every morning. Sammie woke up this morning at about 6:15 (well, around 5:30 the first time, which I fed her and put her back to crib) and I didn't want to have to encourage her for 45 minutes to go to sleep for 45 minutes, so I brought her with me to our bed. I laid down with her on top of me and she put her head on my shoulder and never budged again. I fell asleep and woke up just before 7 and she was still on my shoulder... breathing... I had to check.  She had fallen asleep and was so comfortable that she didn't even wake up when the alarm went off, nor when I moved her in between me and Daddy so I could get up to get dressed. She didn't wake up until Daddy jumped up when his alarm went off at 7:30. It was very sweet, and we will have to make sure to NOT make this a habit!

On another note~ Sammie likes salsa and corn chips!! She also enjoyed her Gerber beef for dinner. I guess she really is a Texan!

Back to Normal

We were supposed to go see Grandpa today for Children's Day with the Austin Symphony, but the past couple of days were rough and we we're so sorry that we had to miss it. I got another clogged milk duct and wasn't feeling up to par, and since Sammie only took 1 nap for Grandma yesterday, I wanted her to catch up on some sleep on our day off.... and boy did she! She took 3 naps! Later I thought she was sleeping, and when I put her down in her crib she was just half awake, I guess she was just relaxing her head on my shoulder. Tired little girl. However, she is back to being her normal funny self again: her poops seems normal- Finally!, she's climbing up the furniture, she's non-stop "Mama" again, and she's scarfing down her dinner.  It was so funny to watch her eat her rice cracker. She was actually taking big bites of it. After dinner, she was playing the cutest game with Daddy-- He would lay on the floor with an empty Pampers box over his head and Sammie would lay down next to him and peek under the flaps and smile at him :)

PS~ Here's the new scoop on the poop- allergy speaking... Daddy had been making some scrumptious bagel pizzas and thought the bagels were safe for me to eat. When I was using the last 2 today, I was reading the ingredients and they contain RYE! However, we haven't seen any blood in her poop lately. Sure 'nough, a few hours later, she had a mega poopie diaper and we double checked for blood. There was red... watermelon! We guess she has grown out of the allergy. It's not definite so I'll still be safe and not purposely eat rye and oat. But.... whew. Yea! :)

... and to celebrate I stayed up ALL night! I didn't go to sleep until 2:30! Then I was up bright and early and happy to go to Grandma's. Poor Mommy and Daddy.

Sammie had a fun day exploring with Cousin Nate , but her poor gums are hurting her. Once we got home, she played with Daddy, then Mommy and would fuss in between her smiles and giggles. Yesterday she would cling only to Mommy and didn't want much to do with Daddy; tonight she fussed until Daddy fed her her night- night bottle. Also, she hasn't been saying "Mama" like she used to. She first said it when she got her bottom teeth and once they came through, she stopped. Well, she started saying "Mama" again. Poor Mommy... she's associated with pain.

Bon Voyage

Sammie woke up all night... midnight, 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am..... After thinking it was gas and giving gas drops just to be awakened again, I tried Orajel and that helped. So, apparently, she is teething. I am reminded of the signs from her bottom teeth: chewing on her lips and sticking her thumb in her ear, so I'm guessing the top 2 won't be coming in for about 3 weeks or so. I hope she feels better soon though!
We had an early dinner with Aunt Pam and Uncle Jack today since they are going out of town for the summer and won't see the babies for months! They are going to be so grown! We'll miss them and will keep in touch. Hope you have a great vacation, Auntie Pam & Uncle Jack!

CPRMC Family Picnic

Today was the hospital picnic at Reunion Ranch. It was the first year and we were looking forward to it! It was a ton of fun... Sunny, but fun!
There was BBQ served for dinner. Sammie tried some brisket, baked beans and a few bites of white bread. She really loved the brisket... Yeah!!!
