Today was Samantha's birthday party. She woke up pretty fussy and clingy, so I was a little worried. Even after a nap, she was still a little fuss ball. We blew up about 2 dozen balloons and that seemed to help, except that she wanted to hold on tight to all of the balloons.
Our guests started to arrive and Sammie was happy to see everyone: The grandparents, Uncle Shaler, Aunt Adrianne and Cousin Nate, Aunt Pam and Uncle Jack, Lori and Nate, Melisa and Brian, Marti and Adam, Alex, Shila and Grant. Sammie loved having everyone over and being held and getting into stuff, like her presents. She received lots of gifts: books, clothes, jammies, puzzles, a shopping cart and even a castle! She is going to be a busy little girl.
As far as the first cake: We got a chocolate bundlet cake for Samantha and Grandpa made his special (Mommy's favorite) chocolate-chocolate-chocolate bundt cake for the adults. We even added some pink sprinkles in both cakes. Sammie stuck her finger in the icing on her cake and enjoyed licking it off. She wasn't sure about the cake until Mommy broke off a piece and fed it to her, then it was downhill from there. She really enjoyed eating cake! When it seemed like she had enough sugar, I pulled the cake away and she reached for it back. She sure does love her chocolate cake.
I hope we enjoy the second year as much as the first!
