Quack Quack Goes the Duck

I think Sammie knew I missed her yesterday. She spent most of the day in my arms or lap. I love it. Tonight was her first UT football game at Brad's house. She was a bit overwhelmed and wouldn't nurse, but man, could she put down some food!

Her new thing is making "duck face"...

Missing You

I sure did miss Sammie tons today! I did not like being at work and wished I was at home crawling after her and playing, but I know she was having a fun day with Cousin Nate since she hadn't seen him in 2 weeks. She also got to spend the evening with Daddy. He got to crawl after her, play, and get sweet cuddles from our sweet girl!
Ready for my day! Like my skirt?
Watch it Naters, I'll horse collar you!
Best seat in the place!

WELCOME TO THE WORLD, OWEN PATRICK! Cousins Sean and Liz Arroyo had their bouncing baby boy tonight! Congratulations!

Are You Ready for Some Football?

I hung out lots with Daddy, Grandma, and Grandpa today. Then, I went with Daddy to the store to get ready for the first football game of the season: Saints vs Greenbay. I hope Daddy enjoys watching the game and doesn't stress too much about it. I'm hoping to have my Saints tee for the next game that I am able to watch! Who Dat!

OH! Mommy and Daddy let me nibble on some queso and chips after dinner. I thought it was de-lish!!!! I wanted MORE!!
xoxo, Sammie

We Got the Beat

This morning I got Sammie to keep herself occupied while I baked some cinnamon rolls (no, she didn't get any). I gave her a baking pan to play with and showed her how to make some music. And make some music she did!... Loudly! She really enjoyed banging on that pan and using it to slide-crawl!
Ready to make a beat, Mommy?
drum-drum-drum
She decided to walk all day. She walked across the room to her toys, to give kisses, anything. She is really enjoying being "free" and so far, she is being a good girl and not getting into any trouble.  Even with all this walking, she still wants Mommy to hold her, which I love.  We've also noticed that when we put her down, she doesn't fuss as much, she just gets up and walks on.

Tonight for dinner she fed herself some peas, quinoa, and bits of nectarine :)
Fake boo-hooing

New things of  the week:
She's getting REAL good at getting off your lap or getting off the couch
She is babbling a TON- lots of babababababaaaa like a song, tucking her bottom lip in
She has been "singing" with me when I sing for her naps, usually to our 'normal' songs. When I sing something newer, she doesn't "sing" along.
Fake fussing out the wa-hoo... water works and lip and all! (see above pic)
Reading all her books
hugs
blowing kisses
brushing her teeth (after Mommy or Daddy)
Playing ball (tossing it)
high five/low five
We are teaching her how to be gentle with Ali. She likes to pet her by tapping. Yikes!

Make Like A Tree and Leave

This morning was such a beautiful cool morning. It felt like Fall was in the air!  But the thought wasn't just for the cool weather...The wild fires are getting out of hand. So, Daddy thought it would be a good idea if we raked up the leaves to remove some of the dry stuff from the yard. Besides the leaves, we also cleaned up Sammie's "new" climb-n-slide, pulled up some weeds and mowed. We even started trimming the dead tree, which we are leaving until we can replace it because it adds privacy from the neighbors, even when dead! The yard looks amazing, aside from all the dead stuff, :/! Sammie hung out with us while we worked. She played on her slide, sat in her swing and talked to us, was very cute. We were in the yard all day, and once we were done we came in to pack up some things in case we have to evacuate. A new fire broke out just a few miles north of us. We hope everyone is ok.

Sammie sure did have a photogenic day! :

Firey Kisses

We were so happy that Daddy was able to be with us today! He has had a busy weekend, hanging with Mike and Brad, going to the UT football game and working for Uncle Shake. Sammie was so excited he was back that she gave him tons of kisses and head pets.
*kisses*
I'm so happy to see you, Daddy!

Samantha was awake from about 3-5am this morning, so we worked hard on making up the sleep she missed. This evening she took a 3 hour nap-- Boy, did she need it!
Messy bed head

Since Sammie has 4 teeth, and it seems a few more coming in, we really need to start taking care of these bad boys! I had gotten one of those finger gum cleaners a while back, but I wanted something more. Something for her teeth.... So I got her a new toothbrush! It's green with a giraffe on it. She enjoyed brushing her teeth after bath (no toothpaste, of course) .

brusha*brusha Mommy

In the news: There are at least 6 brush fires going on around Austin. It's really scary because we have already gone through one natural disaster and have overcome it. We thought we had nothing to worry about here in Austin, but I guess not. It's so hot and dry, and with the winds from the tropical storm, things are looking if-y. We're praying that nothing happens to us and wishing the best for those who were affected.

The Sweetest Thing

Samantha is such a sweet girl. Some times she can be so rough and crazy, like when she smacked me on the head with one of her toy cups during bath tonight. I yelled "Ouch!" and she leaned in to give me a hug. I don't think she put 2 and 2 together, but she just kept her head on my shoulder. I'll eat up all her sweetness while I can!

At the consignment store. She is so darn cute in this crocheted hat, although we didn't purchase it...

PS~ Daddy went to his first UT football game tonight.

Late Night Sunshine

This was my first week of working full time. Of my 4 shifts, I closed 3of them at 8:00pm. It made me a little sad that I wouldn't be able to put Sammie to bed, and rock and sing to her. But in a way, I sang to her tonight:
As I was on the ICU unit, there was a patient who had been in pain for a couple of days and I heard someone singing "You Are My Sunshine" to calm him. I sing this song- our special song- to Sammie about a hundred times a day, so without hesitating I started singing along, care free of who was around or who heard. It's like Mommy was singing to Sammie.  I didn't think about it until later that it was about 7:30 when I sang it which is around the time we would be doing bottle and songs.

PS- It sounded like Sammie said "kitty" this morning when looking for Ali.

Odds & Ends

Sammie gets good and bad traits from both Mommy and Daddy: Her gorgeous dark hair- Mommy. Her beautiful hazel eyes- Daddy. Her nappy squirrel nest hair- Mommy. Grinding her teeth so loud- Daddy. It makes me shiver! Now who does she get biting from? - Ali Kat? That little girl bit me so hard it made a mark!
Grrrr... I could bite something.
Sammie has been taking steps towards Daddy and this evening when I got home she took about 10 steps towards me!!! Now I believe it! Also, she is still blowing kisses, but only to Daddy.
