Lil' Miss Smartie Pants

Sammie is getting too smart for her britches. I guess she figures that we know- and she knows- that she can eat food and will eat all kinds, so for dinner I introduced Turkey & Sweet Potatoes-- I was bored with the Mixed Vegetables, as I'm sure Sammie was too, besides, I was ready to move onto meats. She would take bites and then just spit it out. She wasn't even being silly and doing her raspberry thing like she did for plain sweet potatoes. She would just get it all on me! I had to raise my voice to her and she would just stop and get serious, like she knew she was in trouble. It was sad, but so cute. On top of that, she fought a nap and was tired, so she kept rubbing her eyes and face and food was everywhere, even caked in her hair! During her bath, she likes to suck the water out of the wash cloth, which she's been doing for about a month or so*bleh* Tonight she has figured out that when she's sucked enough water out the cloth, she can dunk it in the tub water and it will fill up again...  Smartie Pants!

Lil' evil turkey smirk ;)

Sammie and I dropped off 174 ounces to the Mother's Milk Bank :)

3-6-9 Clap Clap Clap

I was very excited to see Cousin Natey-Nate this morning, that I almost wiggled out of Mommy's arms.

Grandma sang me "The Clapping Song" to encourage my new clapping skills! She used to sing it to Daddy when he was little.
"3-6-9, The Goose drank wine, the Monkey chewed tobacco on the streetcar line; The line broke, the Monkey got choked, and  they all went to Heaven in a little row boat..." That's my Daddy's favorite part, although he used to say "chew-bacco". Silly Daddy.  xoxo, Sammie

A Wall to Climb

After some days spent at home with Grandma Maria, Sammie was reunited with Cousin Nate. Grandma Wells said that they were so happy to see each other. Sammie's new thing is climbing all over you while you're on the floor. She climbs on Daddy and Mommy, and Cousin Nate would be NO exception...

I have been trying hard to teach Sammie how to clap her hands. She's been splashing in the tub using her hands, like she is clapping, but tonight, after I clapped, she clapped too! Palms together and all! I am so proud of her!

PS~ Today was Day1 of mixed vegetables... ate them up without a doubt!

Saying Goodbyes

This morning I saw Samantha standing up again in her crib, just hangin' out waiting for the door to open. I thought about getting the camera phone, but just couldn't get out of bed to do it.
We had to say goodbye to Grandma Maria today. Too bad she won't decide to move here and has to fly in every 3 months to see how big and developed Sammie has gotten. It was sad to say goodbye, but we will see her again real soon.

Grandma Maria made my outfit. Do you like it?! :)

I Love my Grandma! <3

Grandma Maria Fun Day

It was my last full day being watched by Grandma Maria while Mommy went to work. I am getting used to her watching me and unfortunately she is leaving tomorrow, and I am going to have to say good-byes... Until then we had some fun! I slept a ton and then we went on a nice long walk, played and swung, and she even fed me some peas for lunch. Although it is super awesome that Daddy also works from home and I can see him and play for a minute or two here and there, I was very happy to see Mommy when she walked through the door!

Daddy saw me do two crawl steps on their bed today....I'm ready to get up and out if I could ever get my legs uncrossed!!  I've also been climbing up everyone and everything, it's so much fun!

xoxo Sammie

I'm ready for my walk, Grandma!

Tasting all my night-night books was very delicious

Mission Accomplished

We went to the GI doctor and it was our official last visit! I have solved the mystery: Sammie and I are off Oats and Rye for the next 6 months! She should outgrow the allergy, but the doc says that I can try some rye/oats and see if she is still affected by it, via breast milk, rather than feeding it directly to her.  He said that it may lessen the effect if she is still allergic.   I told him about the foods that she has been eating and how I can't help myself, but let her taste grapes, apple, avocado, watermelon, etc... and he is totally ok with it, and said that if I want to feed them to her, I can. This makes me very happy because I am ready for Sammie to start eating all sorts of foods, instead of doing the 3 day testing. I have to calm down and control myself and follow the guidelines (my way). She had her first day of peas for dinner and liked them although the smell was almost unbearable to me -bleh- What doesn't this lil' girl like?!

Warm peas please

Grandma Maria, Sammie and I went to the outlet mall after the doctor appointment and spent all day there. Everyone was so pooped when we got home, but as promised, Sammie got her swing ride by Daddy :)

Can't. Stop. Giggling.
Samantha measured 15 pounds/10 ounces and is 25 1/2 inches long.

Lil' Catfish

After a stressful trip to Walmart and HEB with Mommy and Grandma Maria, Daddy surprised me with a pool party when we got home! I was so tired, but how could I pass up this awesome surprise? Everyone sat around my pool drinking strawberry-banana smoothies, while I just wanted to eat the grass- ha ha ha. After my nap,  Grandma and Grandpa Wells came over for a Good Friday catfish dinner.  Grandpa fed me my first day of Sweet Potato and Corn- YUM!!! I was sooo tired afterward, I hit the hay hard.

Wanting to crawl in the new outfit my Grandma Maria made for me

Singing a Spanish patty cake song is fun!

Mmm.... sweet potato and corn. My favorite so far!

On Grandma's Watch

Grandma Maria watched me today while Mommy went to work. I was excited to hang out with Grandma, but after a while I waited for Mommy to come back and I started to get a little upset and I wasn't sure what was happening, but Grandma played with me and took me for a walk, she fed me and took care of me. I sure was excited to see Mommy when she got home! I would just look at her and start to giggle.

Good Morning, Cap'n

I finished off the green beans tonight.

Grandma's Here!

This afternoon, we went to the airport to pick up Grandma Maria (still trying to figure out grandma- nicknames). I want to say that it was Sammie's first experience there, but she has gone a few other times previously, like when my mom came in for her birth and Christmas, but she was always too young and probably sleeping. Although Sammie slept for the drive down there (~30minutes), she woke up once we pulled up to the passenger pick-up and just looked all around and took it all in. Grandma was soo excited to see how big Sammie has gotten and couldn't wait to snatch her out of the car seat once we got home. Luckily, she was able to spend some quality time with lil' Sammie, feeding her green beans, giving her a bath, and feeding and putting her to bed. Sammie must have remembered Grandma Maria from when she was born and 3 months old because she took right to her! It was very sweet :)

Going to the airport!

Grandma Maria is here~ hee hee hee

I like warm green beans. See my clean bib?!

Green Beans!

I have been getting ready for Grandma Maria to come in town tomorrow. She is going to be SO surprised when she see's how big Sammie is and all that she can do! We are very excited for her arrival!

I just knew that Sammie had an explosive poopie diaper on our way to Grandma Wells' this morning, and sure 'nough it was ALL up her back to her shoulder! Eeew! She must have been trying to start a trend, because she had another explosive diaper in the car with Daddy. She can be full of it some times ;)

For dinner, we gave Sammie a choice of green beans or peas, and she chose the former. She didn't seem to like it much. Bleh- But she took it like a champ.... until she started crying just a few spoonfuls in.

Green Beans!

A Little Sleep Goes A Long Way!

Sammie slept so well this weekend! Finally, she caught up on the rest she needed and I am very proud of her! Today was no different... even I got to take a nice 2 hour nap- Oops- I had stuff to do. This evening, Sammie started to get fussy and I wasn't sure if something was wrong, like her tummy aching, but she sure seemed tired. She was making this grunting sound that she makes when tired, so I rocked her a little and placed her in the crib. Rebecca called and as I spoke to her, I was watching the monitor and seeing Sammie roll around and move out of view. Then, as I took a second look, Sammie was just sitting there Indian-style- right IN camera view!!! I cut Rebecca off excited that Sammie sat up all ALONE! As I continue to watch, she pulled up holding on to the side of the crib! Matt was working and both times I ran in for him to see. I couldn't process the idea to get the camera to snap a photo. After Matt was off work, I placed Sammie back in the crib and he and I were discussing moving the crib mattress down so Sammie doesn't fall out and she pulled up AGAIN! What a big strong girl!!! I am convinced all this sleep was helping her develop :)

After all this strenuous activity, I took Sammie out back to play in her new kiddy pool. She was very serious, as usual about water, but we can tell she enjoyed herself.

I caught her in the act!- sitting up

I can feed myself some sweet potatoes :)

Oh Two...

We celebrated our friend Nate's second birthday at the playground today. It was Sammie's first birthday party to attend. She had her morning nap, a good feeding and was good to go to party! Although she was still a little groggy, she still had a good time hanging out with our good friends, Lori, Mike & Nate, Jessica & Brad, and Lisa & Isaac. She even went on her first swing session and had a blast! She was so pooped that she fell asleep on Brad's shoulder and wound up taking an hour nap once placed in her stroller.

The Birthday Boy!

Weeeeeee!

Sleepy girl... zzz....

Raspberries and Scream

What a day! After all that fussing and thinking that Sammie would let us sleep in, she woke up around 6 and stayed in her crib until I decided to wake up and get her at 7. It actually worked out because she took a few good naps today, I only let her take 3 (she wanted more) but she was ready for bed tonight with no fuss!
We had a big day... Sammie hung with Daddy while I ran out for a minute and she actually fell asleep in his arms, in the rocking chair. Today was a day for cleaning up the back yard and Sammie hung out with us while we pulled up tons of weeds. I think she had fun just listening to all the sounds around, feeling the breeze and seeing the sky when she'd fall over. Tonight for dinner, we put her in her high chair (finally) and she had her first day of sweet potatoes. I'm not sure what she thought of them because she acted like it was a game. She would open wide for the spoon and then let it roll off her tongue, never making an icky face or anything. She was definitely a Raspberry Queen tonight and then would shriek! It was so hilarious! (see video below)

I Love hanging with Daddy!!!

Chillin' out, outside

A lady bug flew on my head! She wanted to meet me!

Groovy Bunny

Mommy said I had to take a good long nap today, so I did. Grandma took me on a stroll and I took some pictures in a small patch of bluebonnets... and of course I didn't even look at the camera, because I was a little too busy trying to eat them :) Later I hung out with Grandpa and Daddy. I'd say it was a good day.... until it was bedtime, that is. It took me an hour to get settled-- Poor Mommy and Daddy. I can be such a handful, but they'll appreciate sleeping in a little tomorrow.
xoxo, Sammie

Today I am 6 Months!

I pooped a lot for Daddy, so much so in fact, he put me right into the bath, soaked my clothes and sprayed my car seat with stain-spray. In the tub, I got a pre-soak, cleanse, and rinse :) hee hee hee

The Cat's Meow (Doctor Update)

Sammie is  15 pounds, 9 1/2 ounces and measures 25 1/4 inches. She took her 3 vaccines like a champ, but she was more upset than usual afterward. Of course, she did need a nap and a good feeding. Then, we went to visit the girls at Mommy's OB/GYN office. Everyone thought Sammie was just adorable! It was so cute to see her smile in between those tired tears.

Someone's Breaking In!

Last night Sammie woke up around 2 am, she didn't make a peep but just kicked the side of her crib. (I guess she knew my ears needed a break from the mid- night screaming!) I went to her room, gave her the paci, re-positioned her and left.  She went back to sleep and we both caught some zzz's. Matt didn't hear any of this going on and when I told him about it this morning, he responded with "So, it sounded like someone was breaking in?" Thanks for saving us, Daddy ;) - 'Well thanks for waking me up, Mommy!'
Sammie had another sleep-less day. She had a decent "long" nap at Grandma's and then a short one after, but nothing that would fix those vampire-purple eyes of hers. I hope we can fix it tomorrow! She ate squash again tonight, but I think she's over it and is ready to move on to new taste adventures!

Don't I look like such a big girl???

I have been forgetting to mention some things that Sammie does/ has been doing:

When taking her shirt off and it gets stuck, she tries to help pull it over her head
If you say "Up, Up, Up", she'll lift her arms to be picked up (some times)
She likes to sleep face down in the corner of her crib
Tonight in the bath, when I placed a cup out of her sight, she sat all the way forward and leaned over to reach for it! (object permanence).... she's Awesome!
Oh yeah.... I have narrowed her food allergy to oats, rye, or barley. I believe 90% that it is rye. We haven't had a bloody streak in weeks! YAY!!!

Tired Angel

Nothing new today. Sammie was up for a couple hours, off and on, last night. Therefore, taking a 2+ hour nap this morning. I hope she gets back on schedule... soon! She ate a ton of squash tonight, but before that, I let her lick some avocado off my finger (oops) and she seemed to like it. Too bad avocado is at the end of the list of foods to try. I can't help but want to give her all kinds of veggies and fruits now because I just know she will like them. She's such a big girl!
She was tired pretty early this evening, so I gave her a bath and bottle earlier than usual. It was strange having her all clean and in jammies, taking a bottle while the sun was still peeking through the window. But it was cool, because as she drank her bottle, I noticed the sun passing us by. By the time she was done with the bottle, it was 'dark' in her room. Night Night Sammie Angel.

Like Giving Candy To A Baby

Sammie went on her first grocery trip today... with only Mommy.... and Mommy *dislikes* going to the grocery. It sure was an experience. She tried to put everything in her mouth, except the things she is supposed to, like her toy links or paci. She tried to eat the grocery list, pen, my purse, and the bag of frozen corn! ha ha ha She was so tired, because it was her nap time, but she bared through it with droopy eyes. She had to stay awake to see everything. She took a short nap in the car and when we got home, but she DID NOT want to take a long one! I was hoping for an hour, but 30 minutes did her well.
For dinner tonight, we tried her on squash and she LOVED it! The first bite, she cough up at me, but after that, she kept trying to feed herself and would actually eat the whole spoonful. I even gave her seconds! Eating a wide variety of veggies while pregnant seems to be paying off. I told Sammie just wait until she can have squash and zucchini the way Mommy and Daddy like it :)

See how clean my bib is? :)

Please Sleep

Sammie took a nice long 2 hour nap today. While she did that, we worked in the backyard (it's starting to come along). I wish she would go to sleep now. She's been fighting her bedtime this week *sigh*

Tonight we went to Soleil for a "Happy Trails dinner" for a nurse friend of mine at work. Sammie was a little sleepy but well behaved through the dinner. She even sat in her first restaurant- highchair!
