Mama's Old
Yesterday was Mommy's 30th birthday. Lucky for her, I slept the whole day and let her chill out to catch up on a new tv show, Dexter, she started watching. She said she didn't want to celebrate because Daddy has a lot of school work to do. Hmm... we'll celebrate next weekend! ~ Sammie :)

Day-After-Thanksgiving-Chocolate-Pecan-Pie-Surprise Kinda Day
Mommy and Daddy got a surprise chocolate pecan pie (that Mommy's been dreaming of) from Grandpa and I got a new Snoopy doll from Grandma. It's my first one.

Happy Turkey Day
Today is Thanksgiving. Sammie is already 6 weeks old! How time flies! We went to Grandma & Grandpa Wells' for dinner and she slept the WHOLE time. She had a really good night last night. She went to crib at 9:45pm and slept for a straight 6 hours! YAY for routines.

It's Just Routine
Well, I am finally starting Sammie on a routine. We realized that her and I just sleep too late in the morning and this is why she fights going night-night and doesn't go to sleep until midnight- 1am. We started waking up between 7-8am on Tuesday and doing more tummy time throughout the day to use her energy. So far so good. Tuesday night she went to sleep at 9:30pm, slept about 4 hour intervals, and we woke up around 8am. Strange thing is, she doesn't sleep as much during the day... which means no Mommy-time; so much for cleaning up and attempting to get this scrapbook going. But her being wake just helps us get out the house more. I figure she's going through a growth spurt (tomorrow she'll be 6 weeks) because on top of all this, she wants to eat like every hour sometimes!
She sure is moving and babbling more since she's awake more too! She is also using her legs more, kicking and pushing.

Sleepy Head
Sammie has been fussing at night lately (between 10pm and midnight), like she knows it's bedtime and fights it... Maybe a growth spurt? She just cries uncontrollably unless someone is holding her. Usually, around this time, I head to bed and Matt bounces or paces with her until she falls asleep. Then I get to deal with her every-2 to 3-hour-feedings! Last night, after all the fussing and crying and pacing, she went into her crib around 1am and slept until about 5:45 this morning! She started babbling in her sleep which woke me up and I waited for her to cry/wake up, but she didn't. I had to just go in and get her. She went 6+ hours without eating (her last feeding was at 11pm)! She is such a sleepy head sometimes! I wish it were like this all the time. I hope this a nice routine that's starting.... I guess we'll see.

A Miracle in a Blanket
Things are going great. We talked to the pediatrician about Samantha not liking the bassinet and that she likes to sleep in the swing, which she didn't agree to. She gave us a couple options: have her sleep in the infant pack-n-play and/or get a "magic blanket". Turns out the "magic blanket" is really called The Miracle Blanket, and as I was planning on going to the store to buy one, our friend, Lori, had one to let us borrow. We tried it that night in the crib (which we were wanting to transition her to) and Sammie slept for almost 4 hours, woke up to eat- which was a good feeding- and slept again for 4 hours. What a happy and blessed morning it was to see her smiling face!
The Miracle Blanket isn't just a blanket. It's a swaddle, like a straight jacket, that ties the baby's arms down so they can't break free. Samantha is such a kicker and puncher, she breaks out of every swaddle (even though she broke out of the magic blanket once), but it helps hold them real tight and helps with colic and gas.
Check out the Miracle Blanket here.

Monkeying Around
We've been putting Samantha in her crib during nap times and fussy times and watching her in the monitor. We watch her kick, punch, sleep and listen to her fuss and babble- She does all kinds of things. During one episode, I swear she grew some bunny ears!

Getting It Straight
We tried to get Samantha's day-night straight that one day, but apparently she just needed some time to figure it out herself. She stays awake a lot more during the day, just hanging out and looking around; and she is sleeping and eating much better at night. She does, however, sleep like a champ from around 8pm-11pm~ I'm sure she gets bored watching Grandma's Spanish soap-operas hee hee. But we are very proud of her! We can't believe how big she is getting! It's not VERY noticeable to us, but her head sure is getting heavy and she is getting longer. We are getting her used to her crib, so she goes in there for her day time naps, while she's in the swing at night (it's the only way we could get her to sleep at night). But soon we will transition her to sleeping in the crib at night. It's further away for Mommy to go, so we have to see when I will be "healed".

Happy Halloween
It was Samantha's first Halloween and she was dressed as Ali Kat. It was cute! (pictures to follow)... and her belly button fell off!
We also welcome our new friend, Corbin Lee, into this world. Although he lives so far away in Virginia Beach, we hope to meet him soon- maybe next year. Congratulations Amy & Derek!
